From Damascus Beginnings to a Mission of Love
Baseem Rayyes, who was born in Damascus in 1970, is a well-known Syrian artist and will present his remarkable artwork at the ftNFT Phygital Space between July 10 and August 10. Rayyes, a Damascus University alumnus who has earned a B.S.C. in Agricultural Engineering, now spends his time as a full-time writer and artist, focusing on combating hatred with a 'war of love'.
A Commitment to Art and Peace Amidst Conflict
"In the first day of 2011, before revolutions started in the Arab World, I gave a love letter to the whole world in an artistic initiative entitled 'A Painting on Every Wall,'" Rayyes recalls. His dedication to art as a source of love and peace is visible in his ongoing efforts, even despite the turmoil in Syria. Rayyes remains unwavering in his mission to repair and create, even when his work is destroyed, like the Syrian Mural hit by a shell.
Exploring Inner Movements Through Rayyes Artistry
Rayyes' artistic technique emphasizes the inner movements of life rather than its external appearance. He observes that from inside, everything around us is full of movement. His artwork delves into the depths and subtleties of his subjects, conveying their emotions, thoughts, and vitality onto the canvas.
International Acclaim and Global Recognition
Rayyes work has been shown internationally, including at the renowned Opera Gallery in DIFC, Dubai, and he is currently based in the United Arab Emirates. The acquisition of his paintings by notable figures worldwide has solidified his status as a leading artist.
